On-line access of Ontario Base Mapping (OBM)
NAD83 OBM mapping products are now available on-line at www.firstbasesolutions.com.
The traditional vector map sheets are available in AutoCAD DWG and Shape formats along
with a new geo-referenced raster product and coloured plots. Files can be downloaded
directly to your PC.
Thirty-three (33) layers of data were extracted from the NAD83 NRVIS data
to create the OBM traditional vector map sheets. These sheets are available at 1:10,000
for Southern Ontario and 1:20,000 for areas in Northern Ontario. These digital files are
available in AutoCAD DWG or Shape formats and are inexpensively priced at $125.00. The new
OBM product with is a geo-referenced raster file called a GeoTIFF file is similar to the
traditional OBM plots but is geo-referenced and can be used as a back drop to your
geographic information. These files can also be uploaded into hand held devices for use in
the field for recreational use.
A thumbnail version of each GeoTIFF image can be easily viewed on the site
so you can be sure you are ordering the correct data. The GeoTIFF files are available for
$20.00. Finally, hard copy colour plots of the OBM map sheets can be ordered on-line and
couriered for delivery the next business day. These plots sell for $8.50 each, plus
